A kit of the heavy road tractor Kaelble Z6R in 1:72 scale from Hauler brings into a display case a subject you will not easily find in an ordinary range.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set from Hauler treats in a small scale a theme that appears in display cases only rarely: a heavy road tractor of the German Kaelble brand. The treatment corresponds to short-run production, so the parts need more careful preparation than in a mass-produced box. The result, though, is a vehicle your neighbor at a show will not have.
The Kaelble brand from Backnang was among the leading European makers of heavy road tractors. The machines of the Z series served to haul lowboy trailers and ballast trailers, that is to move loads an ordinary truck could not handle. In the war years tractors of this kind were used in recovering damaged vehicles and in moving oversized loads along the road. The silhouette with a short cab, a massive front grille and a weighted rear end is unmistakable.
First rid the parts of the excess left by production and dry-fit the surfaces that meet one another. A base of gray primer will tie the surface together and reveal the scratches that would stand out under paint. Apply the basic shade with an airbrush in thin coats, bring out the hollows with a dark wash and dust the underside of the vehicle with pigments. It is precisely with haulage vehicles that a grimy chassis makes most of the impression.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the package does not contain paints or glue.
