The mask set Eduard 1:48 F-86A Sabre for cleanly covering the glazing while finishing a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A mask set from the Czech maker Eduard for a model of the first production Sabre in 1:48 scale. It is made for covering the glazing and the other areas that should stay free of paint after spraying. The shapes are based on the framing of the canopy, so there is nothing to measure out and nothing to cut by hand. The aircraft model is not part of the package contents.
The F-86A was the first version of the North American Sabre jet fighter put into series production. The swept wing and tail surfaces gave it a margin of speed the straight wings of the previous generation did not have, and power came from a single engine housed in the fuselage. The armament consisted of 12.7 mm machine guns in the forward fuselage. It was with this version that the US Air Force entered its duels with MiG-15 machines over Korea.
Degrease and dry the glazing before covering it. Move the individual shapes with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and seat them without stretching. First spray the interior shade of the frames and only then the outer camouflage. Remove the masking before the paint has fully hardened, or the edge may tear away along with the coat of finish.
The set is an aid for finishing; an aircraft cannot be built from it.
