F-14D right and left electronics 1:48 is a pair of resin castings that replace the blanked-off avionics bays on the sides of the forward fuselage of the Tomcat.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set brings the right and the left side avionics bay together in one package, that is, the spaces that are opened up on the real aircraft during maintenance. Kits usually solve them with a smooth wall or do not indicate them at all. The casting puts the detail of the units, connectors and wiring bundles in their place. A model of the aircraft is not included, and the parts are built into a fuselage that is still under construction.
The F-14D was the last production rendition of the American carrier-borne fighter with variable wing geometry. Compared with earlier machines it received new powerplants, digital equipment and a reworked rear cockpit. It was precisely on this version that the side service panels were opened very often during routine maintenance, so the exposed bays are a well-documented subject and a popular one among modelers.
Cut the openings in the fuselage out step by step, first with a thin drill around the perimeter, then with a knife and finally with a file for a clean edge. The inside of a bay tends to be light, while the equipment blocks themselves are colorful. Fine connectors come alive with a thin brush and a lightly applied dry pastel. Opened covers can be propped with a clear stand so that they stay at the right angle and do not hide the detail.
