The rigging set for the Macchi M.39 from SBS Model is a metal accessory in 1:72 scale: ready-made rigging wires, which on a racing floatplane make up a substantial part of the look.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is neither a model nor a part of a fuselage but an accessory to a finished kit: the set reproduces the rigging wires between the fuselage, the wing and the floats. On racing floatplanes of the 1920s they are a distinguishing mark. A model without them looks unfinished, but pulling thread or wire by hand is tedious and imprecise work, and it is the step at which an already painted surface is most often spoiled. A ready-made set shortens this stage and, above all, makes it more accurate, because the lengths and the gauges are constant.
The set is intended for the Macchi M.39 kit in the same scale from the same manufacturer. Prepare and drill the holes and attachment points before the model is painted, otherwise you will be drilling into finished paint. Fit the rigging right at the end of the build, after the decals and the final clear coat, and spot-glue it with cyanoacrylate or with a glue for metal. Check the tension against the light: a slack wire shows more in 1:72 than it does on the real thing.
For modelers who are building a racing floatplane in 1:72 and want the rigging straight and even without spending an evening pulling thread. For a beginner this is one of the more demanding steps of a build, but on this type of aircraft in particular it decides the final impression.
This is not a kit. The base model is not included in the package.
