An injection-molded plastic kit of the IAI Kfir C.2 combat aircraft in 1:72 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, with a decal sheet and instructions enclosed with the parts; the specific color schemes are in the package. It is a modern release of a proven tool that brought this type back into the range.
The Kfir is a multirole combat aircraft developed by the Israeli company Israel Aircraft Industries. It is based on a delta-wing airframe of French origin into which the American J79 turbojet was installed — hence the strengthened and shorter rear fuselage and the different arrangement of the air intakes. It entered service in 1975. The recognition feature of the versions from the C.2 onward is the forward horizontal surfaces, the canards, mounted on the sides of the forward fuselage; they improved agility and handling at low speeds.
In 1:72 scale it pays to spend time on the seams on the fuselage and on the leading edges — after filling and sanding the model is markedly cleaner. Finish the cockpit and the instrument panel before closing the fuselage up, because afterwards you cannot reach them. Paint the landing gear bays, the racks and the drop tanks separately and glue them on at the end. Lay a gloss varnish down before the decals to avoid silvering, and once it is dry move on to the sheen you have chosen. Spray the transitions of multi-color camouflage with an airbrush at low pressure and from a short distance.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
