Masking stencils in 1:72 scale for the Japanese Kawasaki Ki-32 Mary light bomber. A shadow effect on the control surfaces turns smooth plastic into stretched covering.
Responsibility details are not available.
Masks for 1:72 scale with which a shadow effect is laid on the control surfaces of the Kawasaki Ki-32 light bomber. The flat surface then looks as if it followed the rib structure under the covering, and the model gains depth without a single touch of a knife.
The Ki-32 was a single-engine light bomber of the Japanese army with fixed spatted landing gear and a bomb bay in the fuselage. It is interesting mainly for its powerplant: instead of the usual radial it received a liquid-cooled inline engine, with which there was constant trouble over reliability. The arrangement with fixed wheels in aerodynamic spats places the aircraft unmistakably in the generation of designs of the second half of the 1930s. It was deployed in China and appeared markedly for the last time in the attack on Hong Kong at the end of 1941; after that more modern types pushed it out and it finished its service in training. The code name Mary was assigned to it by the Allies.
First make sure the base is smooth and glossy, because a stencil holds worse on a matte surface. Mix the shadow shade as a darkened variant of the base color, not as black, which in a small scale comes across as hard and unnatural. Look the edge over under a magnifier once the sheet is taken off.
