An accessory for builders of town scenes. The subject is a fountain, that is a water feature of the kind that stands in the middle of a square or in a courtyard. It is not a kit of a vehicle or an aircraft but a separate object that is set into a finished scene as its visual center.
A square without a fountain is just an area of paving. A water feature gives the composition a fixed point around which figures, vehicles and greenery can be arranged, and it helps the viewer judge the size of everything else. In 1:72 it also fits onto a small base, where larger architecture would take up the whole area.
Build the stone surface up from the bottom: a light gray base, a dark wash into the joints and careful lightening of the edges with a dry brush. Suggest moss with a green shade on the north side, where the sun does not reach. You will imitate the water surface with clear casting resin poured in thin layers, because one heavy layer shrinks and clouds. Add small highlights only once it has cured.
You will make the fitting into the ground easier by leveling and roughening the area under the object in advance. Then fill and repaint the gap between the fountain and the paving, so that the transition does not look like an object stuck on but like a part of the square that has stood there since time out of mind.
