A masking set from MH models for models of the French Loire 130 flying boat in 1:72 scale. The masks are stuck straight onto the clear part of the cockpit, which is then sprayed over with the color of the frames, and the masks are removed. The result is even frames exactly along the engraved lines of the part. It is an accessory to a kit, not the model itself.
The Loire 130 was a French single-engine flying boat of the 1930s, intended for reconnaissance and liaison duties from the decks of warships. Its characteristic features are the engine mounted on a pylon above the hull with a pusher propeller, all-metal construction and auxiliary floats under the wing. The machines were launched by catapult and after alighting on the water the ship lifted them back aboard with a crane. In service with the French Navy they lasted from the second half of the 1930s into the postwar years, including service overseas.
Lift the individual pieces carefully out of the sheet with the tip of a scalpel and stick them on one at a time. Offer the piece up to the clear glazing and press it into the engraved edges of the frame with the tip of a toothpick all round - an air bubble under the edge will let the paint run onto the clear part. Cover the remaining areas and the inside of the cockpit with masking tape. Spray the shade of the interior of the frames first and the external finish once that is dry, both in thin coats. On cockpits with large glazed areas it pays to polish the clear part beforehand and, once the masks are off, to go over it with a thin layer of clear varnish, which evens out small irregularities of the edge. Remove the mask with tweezers soon after the paint has dried.
This is not a model of the aircraft and not a kit. Paints, varnish and the base model are not included in the package.
