This is NOT an aircraft model but an injection-molded plastic set of German ground equipment in 1:72 scale. The package holds parts for a starter cart and a transport and service crate for an aero engine, plus the Jumo 213 engine itself. Small photo-etched parts for refining the cart and the engine stand are usually included as well. The set is meant to bring aircraft dioramas and airfield scenes to life.
Ground support equipment was an inseparable part of the operation of the wartime Luftwaffe. Starter carts served to spin up and start aero engines, while transport crates and stands served for handling and maintaining spare powerplants. The Jumo 213 was a powerful inverted V12 aero engine that powered a range of German machines at the end of the war.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid cement and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. The engine is a rewarding object for bringing detail out: use a dark wash in the recesses and drybrushing to make the edges stand out. The transport crate can be given a wood texture and wear with pigments.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
