The abbreviation NBC RV refers to nuclear, biological and chemical contamination and to the reconnaissance role of the vehicle. The 1:72 scale is practical for a collection and for dioramas, and Trumpeter has an extensive Stryker family range in it.
The Stryker is an American wheeled armored vehicle with 8x8 drive, built as a family of variants on a common base. The aim of the concept was to create a unit that is quickly air-transportable while having a common chassis, spare parts and training for a whole range of tasks. The M1135 version is specialized in contamination reconnaissance. It carries a suite of sensors for detecting chemical and radiological agents, equipment for taking samples from the ground on the move, a weather station and a mast with sensors. The task of the crew is to find and mark a contaminated area, take samples and pass the data on, not to fight, which is why its own armament is limited to a defensive weapon.
Finish and paint the chassis with its eight wheels before you fit the wheels, otherwise you cannot get between them. Paint the tires in a matte dark gray, not black. Fit the sensor mast and the other small external equipment at the very end, because they are the most vulnerable parts of the model. Spray the base shade in two or three coats and lighten the middle of the large panels, so that the model does not go dark at its small size. Keep the patina dusty and fine; modern American vehicles tend to be dusty rather than muddy.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
