An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M3A1 medium tank in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Mirage Hobby. It is a tank of the M3 family (Lee/Grant), not the M3 Stuart light tank. The model is supplied as an unassembled and unpainted kit. The exact contents of the set are given in the manufacturer's catalog.
The American M3 medium tank of the early Second World War carried a 75 mm gun in a side sponson of the hull and a second gun of 37 mm caliber in a rotating turret. The result was an unusual but, for its day, heavily armed vehicle meant to bridge the time until the later Sherman matured. The M3A1 version was marked by a cast upper hull. Tanks of the M3 family also served with the British army (under the names Lee and Grant) and, thanks to Lend-Lease deliveries, reached further Allies.
At the small 1:72 scale, work with a sharp cutter and a fine file, and glue the small parts with a small amount of thin cement for plastic. Paint the running gear and the tracks before the final assembly. After the base coat from an airbrush, bring the cast texture of the hull to life with a fine wash in the recesses and suggest dust with light pigments; at this scale, use the effects sparingly so that the model does not look overdone.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
