A plastic kit of the M4A1 Sherman with the M17 rocket launcher (4.5 inch) from UM in 1:72 scale captures the American medium tank of the Second World War with a turret-mounted multiple rocket launcher.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit from UM in 1:72 scale represents the American M4A1 Sherman medium tank fitted with the M17 multiple rocket launcher, set up to fire rockets of 4.5 inches (114 mm) caliber. The set holds plastic parts for the hull and the turret plus extra photo-etched parts for the fine detail.
The M4A1 was the version of the Sherman with a cast hull armed with a 75 mm gun. The combination with the M17 rocket launcher was one of the improvised solutions for area fire support at the end of the Second World War, when salvo rocket armament was mounted above the tank's turret. After firing, the salvo weapon could move along with the tank units.
Finish the running gear and the bogie suspension first, and close up the hull only afterwards. Glue the frame of the rocket launcher carefully at a right angle. Use liquid cement on the plastic; we recommend a primer coat, spraying with an airbrush and final washes and pigments for dust and mud effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
