1:72 Martin B-26 Marauder upgrade set is an Eduard photo-etched set for refining a plastic kit of the American bomber in 1:72 scale. It is an accessory to a kit, not a model of the aircraft.

1:72 is the scale where a plastic mold runs into physical limits. Grilles, consoles, seat belts and instrument panels come out in it as shallow relief, because injection molding simply cannot go thinner. Photo-etched brass sheet gets around that limit and can deliver a part at a realistic thickness even in a small scale. That is exactly what this set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard is for. Within Eduard's range it is a photo-etched set, that is a different category from the self-adhesive masks for glazing, from the narrowed Zoom sets focused on a few of the most visible cockpit parts, and from the combined sets that bring several sets together in one package.
The Martin B-26 Marauder was an American twin-engine medium bomber of the Second World War. It was marked by a cigar-shaped fuselage, a fairly small wing area and a high landing speed, which at first earned it a reputation as a demanding machine. After changes to the wing and better crew training, however, it took its place among the reliable types, and in operations over Europe it was one of the hardest-worked machines of its category. A characteristic feature is the cylindrical fuselage with a glazed nose.
In 1:72 scale you are working with parts that are easily lost on a bench. Cut the fret over a tray with a raised rim, therefore, and pick the parts up with a dampened pointed toothpick rather than with your fingers. A bending tool handles the folds, and on the smallest parts pressing a razor blade against a ruler is enough. They are glued with cyanoacrylate fed in minute drops. Before painting, degrease the metal and use a primer for metal. Once finished, it pays to bring the photo-etched parts out a little with a dark wash, so that their relief does not disappear under a coat of paint.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit, not a stand-alone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
