A plastic kit of the American medium bomber Martin B-26 Marauder in 1:72 scale. This is a limited edition from the Czech maker Eduard, built on injection-molded plastic by Hasegawa to which Eduard has added its own extras: pre-painted photo-etched parts, a mask set for the glazing and wheels, resin wheels and an extensive decal sheet with eight marking options. The boxing covers the late B-26F and B-26G versions and offers aircraft from the European and the Mediterranean theaters.
The B-26 Marauder was a twin-engine medium bomber with radial engines that entered service at the beginning of American participation in the war. Because of its small, aerodynamically clean wing it had a high landing and approach speed; crews in initial training were afraid of it and it earned some ugly nicknames. The reality was different. After changes to the airframe (greater span, a revised wing incidence, an enlarged vertical tail) and above all after thorough training was introduced, it became a reliable machine – in the European theater it achieved one of the lowest combat loss rates of any American bomber. It is one of the best examples of an aircraft's reputation parting company with its actual performance.
Glue the classic injection-molded plastic with liquid modeling cement for polystyrene, and the resin wheels and photo-etched parts with super glue. Fit the pre-painted photo-etch in the cockpit before closing up the fuselage. Use a primer before spraying; the natural metal finish of unpainted aircraft calls for a perfectly smooth base – otherwise even the faintest scratches from abrasive paper will show. The masks supplied speed up the canopy and gun position glazing considerably. Apply the decals over a gloss clear coat and seal them with a matte one.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
