1:72 Mask Tu-22M2 Backfire B ADVANCED (New Ware)

This is a masking set, not a model. The ADVANCED level is the middle version of the New Ware line. It contains pre-cut (die-cut) self-adhesive masks in kabuki tape for the cockpit canopy including the sealing strips of the glazing, the other clear parts, the wheels and normally masks for the camouflage demarcation as well, on a Tu-22M2 model in 1:72 scale.

The real subject

The Tupolev Tu-22M2 Backfire was an earlier production version of the Soviet supersonic bomber with a variable-geometry wing. It preceded the later, more powerful Tu-22M3 and carried guided missiles and bombs over long distances. Its large fuselage and long cockpit glazing make the model an effective but demanding piece to mask.

• Apply the glazing masks to a clean canopy before spraying the frames.
• Kabuki tape, including the masks for the seals, lets you deal with the glazing strips as well.
