It contains fine etched parts that add accuracy and bring to life a plastic model of the Macchi C.202 Folgore — adding and replacing details that injection-molded plastic cannot faithfully capture.
The Macchi C.202 Folgore was an Italian Second World War fighter and one of the best aircraft of the Italian Air Force, the Regia Aeronautica. It was created by fitting the airframe of the earlier Macchi C.200 with a licensed-built inverted-V Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine, which gave it a slender aerodynamic nose and markedly better performance. The Folgore excelled in handling and speed and was deployed in both the Mediterranean and Eastern theaters.
The etched parts are intended for advanced modelers. Individual parts are separated from the fret with a sharp knife, bent with a bending tool or against a sharp edge, and joined with cyanoacrylate (super glue); larger areas can also be soldered. Degrease the parts before gluing so they hold well. Unify the assembly with a primer coat, followed by an airbrush and fine highlighting with a wash. The set is an accessory for the plastic Macchi C.202 Folgore kit in 1:72 scale, which must be purchased separately.
