McDonnell F-4E Phantom masks 1:72 (Eduard)

A set of precisely cut self-adhesive masks in fine kabuki tape for masking while spraying. The masks follow the frames of the extensive glazing of the two-seat cockpit exactly and usually include circular masks for the wheels too, so that both the frames and the hubs come out crisp and even. The set is prepared for F-4E Phantom models in 1:72 scale. Eduard is an established Czech manufacturer of accessories.

The real subject

The McDonnell F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat jet multirole aircraft. The F-4E version brought an internal gun and upgraded avionics and became one of the most widely used variants, operated by a number of the world's air forces for decades.

Use and tips

• Apply the masks to degreased glazing and press the edges down with a toothpick.
• Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats.
• The wheel masks separate the tire from the hub for clean spraying.
• Peel the mask off before the paint has fully cured.
