A turned replacement barrel for the German MG-34 machine gun in 1:72 scale, intended to take the place of the plastic part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MG-34 was a German general purpose machine gun in 7.92 mm caliber, introduced in the 1930s and used throughout the Second World War. It served the infantry on a bipod and on a mount, and it is also found on armored vehicles, where it formed the armament in the hull front plate, the coaxial weapon in the turret and the anti-aircraft weapon on the roof. Its recognition feature is the slender barrel jacket with round holes.
In 1:72 scale the barrel of a machine gun is so small that the injection-molded plastic part is usually thicker than the real thing, the muzzle is blanked off and the jacket is mostly only suggested. A turned part, by contrast, has a correctly thin profile, holds its shape and survives handling that would bend plastic. On a finished model it is one of the few things noticed even by a viewer who would not otherwise recognize the kit.
Cut the original plastic part off with a sharp blade and sand the remainder so that the seat beds down. The part is not polystyrene, so cement for plastic has no effect on it; use cyanoacrylate glue and apply it sparingly. Wash and degrease the surface before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth material. Tweezers and a tray with a raised edge make the work easier, because a part of this size is very hard to find on the floor.
The kit, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
