An injection-molded plastic model in 1:72 scale of the Soviet MiG-19S supersonic fighter and its Chinese license-built version, the Shenyang F-6. The short-run kit offers decals for several marking options from different operators. The model will appeal to enthusiasts of Cold War jets.
The MiG-19 was the first Soviet production fighter able to hold a supersonic speed in level flight. The MiG-19S version was a day fighter with gun armament; in China the machine was then built under license as the Shenyang F-6 and became the backbone of the fighter force there as well as an export item to a number of countries. It flew with many friendly air arms for several decades.
Clean up the parts of the short-run kit carefully and dry-fit them. Finish the cockpit and the nose before you close the fuselage up; match the drop tanks and the armament to the version you choose. Metal and natural aluminum surfaces come out well with lacquer metallics laid on with an airbrush over a smooth base; a fine wash will bring out the panel lines.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
