1:72 MiG-21 Bis/UM Finnish Air Force is a sheet of waterslide decals from the brand HAD models with Finnish markings for the MiG-21bis and MiG-21UM versions. An accessory for a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of waterslide decals in 1:72 scale with Finnish markings for the single-seat MiG-21bis and the two-seat MiG-21UM. The package holds decals only, and you obtain the model and the paints separately. How many particular machines the sheet covers and whether technical lettering belongs to it is given on the packaging of the sheet.
The MiG-21bis is the last major production version of this supersonic fighter aircraft, with a more powerful engine and a reworked spine; the MiG-21UM is the matching two-seat training version. Finland was among the western operators of both versions and its machines carried a form of national insignia and codes of their own, which differs markedly from the form in the eastern European air forces. For a modeler it is one of the most interesting combinations: a well-known aircraft in unusual markings.
In 1:72 scale the decals are tiny and the main enemy is silvering, a white veil around the motif caused by air trapped under the carrier film. Besides a gloss ground, the technique of the work helps against it: once a decal is settled, press the water out from under it from the center outward with the light pressure of a soft brush, not the other way round. Small technical lettering cannot be moved with fingers or tweezers in this scale, so carry it on a brush dampened with clean water. If silvering does arise anyway, it can often be saved by pricking the film with a needle and a drop of softener.
These are decals on their own, not a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
