1:72 MiG-21, air intake covers from Quickboost are small resin plugs for the nose intake of the model. An accessory for an aircraft shown on the ground, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
In 1:72 scale a MiG-21 model is barely twenty centimeters long, and every part that carries a crisp shape counts twice over. The air intake covers are exactly such a case: a small component that the eye recognizes at once and that turns the model into an aircraft standing on the ground rather than an exhibit in a cabinet without context. The set contains resin castings of these covers. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory to a model you already have.
The smaller the scale, the more pronounced the difference between plastic from a mold and a casting. For manufacturing reasons plastic has to have a certain minimum thickness, which in 1:72 means a coarse, soft shape. Resin keeps a crisp edge even on a component the size of a fingernail. The cover moreover hides the intake duct, which is particularly hard to smooth out in a small scale, because sanding paper practically cannot be got into it.
Wash the castings in soapy water and let them dry on a paper towel. Cut off the casting blocks over a light-colored surface, as small parts otherwise get lost. Level the seating surface with a file and dry-fit the cover. Glue with a drop of cyanoacrylate applied with the tip of a toothpick. Choose a striking color and lay it on thinly so that the coat does not bury the fine surface. You can finish the model with a light touch of dust where the cover seats, which will suggest that the cover really sits on the aircraft and was not just laid there.
This is an accessory for a build and is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
