1:72 MiG-21 Polish insignia

Decals MiG-21 Polish national insignia, 1:72, Model Maker

This sheet is a specialized accessory, not the complete markings for a model. According to the name it concentrates on the national insignia of Polish MiG-21 aircraft in 1:72 scale. It suits wherever the rest of the markings are fine but the insignia from the box are the wrong shade, the wrong size, or have fallen apart. Model Maker is a Polish brand specializing in decals for aircraft models.

Placing insignia calls for accuracy

With national insignia anyone spots a mistake easily, because the eye sees asymmetry at once. So it pays to work with a ruler and with reference to the documentation you have for the particular machine. Mark the position out in advance with a thin pencil line, or help yourself with the engraved panel lines as a guide. The insignia on both halves of the wing have to be the same distance from the root and from the leading edge, and on the fuselage at the same height above the lower edge.

How to proceed

• Overcoat the model with gloss clear varnish and let it cure.
• Apply the insignia onto water or setting solution; while it is damp, it can be moved.
• Compare the position with the other side of the model before you blot the water off.
• Remove the surplus water from the center toward the edges, so no bubbles are left.
• Finally seal with a matte or satin varnish.

Who the set is for

• Modelers replacing damaged or inaccurately colored insignia from a box.
• Builders who combine their own markings and need extra insignia.
• Anyone who builds Polish MiG-21s in 1:72 scale.

The package holds decals. The kit, the paints and the varnish are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
