MiG-21MF gun, early version, in 1:72 scale is a resin replacement part for the gun armament from Quickboost, made in the early production standard.
Responsibility details are not available.
A replacement part in modeling resin that, on a MiG-21MF model in 1:72 scale, takes the place of the lower gondola with the built-in cannon. It is not a kit of the aircraft but a detail accessory. In a small scale this assembly tends to be merely suggested in plastic, with a coarse shape and blanked-off muzzles; a resin casting is sharper and truer. The set is made in the early production standard, which differs from the later one in details of the gondola and of the area around the muzzles.
The MiG-21MF is one of the most widespread versions of the Soviet supersonic fighter with a delta wing, operated in the Czechoslovakia of the day as well. Unlike some of the older versions it had permanently built-in gun armament, a twin-barrel 23 mm cannon housed in a gondola under the fuselage, complementing the guided and unguided weapons on the pylons. The arrangement with the barrels projecting forward meant that the area around the muzzles became heavily fouled with powder residue in flight, which is a rewarding detail for weathering on a model.
Cut the part off the casting block with a fine saw, level the surface and check the fit on the fuselage dry. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the barrels in a dark metallic shade, darken the muzzles and lay a fine gray-black soiling back along the fuselage from them, best with an airbrush and heavily thinned paint. In 1:72 scale less is more; an exaggerated residue stain is more likely to spoil a model.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
