Masks for spraying the special tiger scheme onto a model of the Czech MiG-21MFN in 1:72 scale. The pattern is sprayed with paint, not applied as a decal.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-21 is the most widely built supersonic fighter in history and it served for decades with both the Czechoslovak and the Czech Air Force. The designation MiG-21MFN was carried by machines of the MF version modified for operation to NATO standards. It was precisely on these that the striking tiger scheme appeared, which turned an ordinary military aircraft into an unmissable piece and remains among the favorite subjects of modelers to this day.
The package holds cut masks for spraying this scheme in 1:72 scale. The individual elements of the pattern have ready-made shapes, so they do not have to be drawn freehand or built up from strips of tape. A sprayed pattern also keeps a uniform gloss with the surrounding paint, which with a decal tends to be the weakest point. It also does away with the risk that a large decal film will wrinkle on a rounded fuselage or that silvering will be left under it.
First spray the base shade and let it cure. Degrease the surface, stick the mask down and press the edge along its whole length. Then apply the darker paint in thin coats, perpendicular to the surface, so that it does not creep under the edge. Remove the mask shortly after it has dried. On the rounded areas of the fuselage and on the fin, divide the element into shorter sections and lay them one after another, otherwise the mask will wrinkle.
The set will please builders of Czech aircraft and everyone who wants to spray a striking scheme rather than stick it on. The contents are masks only; the model, paints and glue are not part of them, unless stated otherwise.
