This item from MH models is not a kit of an aircraft but a detail accessory with which you replace the exhaust nozzle of the jet engine on a model. On plastic kits the nozzle tends to be thick-walled and shallow, because an injection mold cannot make it any other way. A resin casting manages a thin edge and the division of the petals, so the view into the nozzle looks deep. This variant captures the nozzle in the closed, that is narrowed, position; the open form is a separate item. The parts follow the Modelsvit kit.
The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French single-engine fighter with a delta wing, powered by a SNECMA M53 turbojet with an afterburner. On such an engine the exit area is governed by a set of moving petals, so the shape of the nozzle you see on the aircraft depends on the engine regime and on the state in which the machine is captured. The choice between the closed and the open position is therefore not just aesthetic - it should match the situation you are showing on the model.
First wash the resin casting in warm water with detergent because of the mold release agent. Cut the casting block off with a saw or a cutting disc, level the surface with abrasive paper used wet and protect your airways. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint it before you glue it into the fuselage: primer, metal shades, the inside darkened and heat-stained and the outer petals lighter. A fine dark wash brings out the gaps between the petals and drybrushing pulls the edges up. Before the build, compare photographs of a particular machine, so that the position of the petals matches what you want to show.
