Mirage F.1 — painting masks 1:72 (Eduard)

This is not paint and not a kit but a set of pre-cut painting masks for a model of the Dassault Mirage F.1. The masks are made of thin self-adhesive kabuki tape (Japanese washi paper), which follows the shape of the canopy frames and the other glazing exactly. You stick them on before spraying, so the frames and the clear parts get a sharp, clean paint edge without the laborious job of painting them by hand.

What the masks are for

• masking the canopy frames and the glazing while spraying
• as a rule also masks for the wheel rims, so that the tire stays clean
• sharp, straight paint edges with no creeping under the tape

How they are used

Carefully lift the mask off the backing, settle it exactly on the part and press it down at the edges. Spray in thin coats and take the tape off while the paint is freshly dry, so that the edge does not flake.
