A cockpit mask for the 1:72 Northrop F-89 Scorpion in the D, J and H versions defines the canopy frames during spraying and keeps the glazing clean.
Responsibility details are not available.
The stencils cover the glazing of a model of the two-seat interceptor in the D, J and H versions. The boundary between a frame and a clear part stays sharp after spraying.
The Scorpion was a heavy twin-engine fighter with a straight wing and a crew of two, a pilot and a radar operator. The D version carried unguided rockets in wingtip pods, the H version received Falcon missiles and machines brought to the J standard could fire the Genie unguided rocket with a nuclear warhead. The type guarded the North American sky with the Air Defense Command and finished its service with the units of the Air National Guard. The raised rear part of the airframe gave the machine its name and, together with the bulky wingtip pods, forms an unmistakable silhouette.
The instrument panel and the seats deserve care, because they are clearly visible under the long canopy. After covering, lay on a thin coat of the interior shade and only then the top finish. If you reach for a glossy metal surface, it pays to smooth the base beforehand, because metal accentuates even small scratches left by sanding. Wipe paint residue at an edge away with a damp brush before the finish hardens completely.
