1:72 OT-130, a plastic kit of the Soviet flamethrower tank on the T-26 chassis from the manufacturer UM in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the manufacturer UM in 1:72 scale captures the OT-130, a Soviet flamethrower tank, in the terminology of the day a chemical tank, derived from the widespread T-26 light tank. The small scale makes the model an ideal subject for a collection of interwar equipment as well as for a diorama, where it takes up little room.
The OT-130 came about in the 1930s by converting the single-turret T-26: instead of a gun it carried a flame projector in the turret with a supply of incendiary mixture in the hull. Machines of this type were deployed at the end of the 1930s in the fighting in the Far East and in the Winter War with Finland, where both the strengths and the vulnerability of specialized flamethrower tanks became clear. In design terms it is an interesting side branch of one of the most numerous tank lines of its day.
Complete and paint the running gear before you close the hull; in a small scale it is hard to get at later. After the base coat, accentuate the tracks and the wheels with a wash, and for weathering use pigments imitating dust and mud. An overall green coat is brought to life by a lighter dry brush on the edges. Work with thin cement for plastic and separate the small parts with a sharp blade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
