P-38J/L Lightning – landing flaps 1:72

This resin detail set replaces the landing flaps of a model of the twin-engine Lockheed P-38J/L Lightning fighter. The parts have a fine texture and let the flaps be built in the open, lowered position, which gives a model on a stand the natural look of an aircraft ready to land. The flaps are designed for the P-38J/L kit from Academy.

The real subject

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was an American twin-engine fighter with a characteristic twin-boom layout and the pilot nacelle in the center. The J and L versions were among the most developed and served as fighters, fighter-bombers and reconnaissance aircraft on all the main fronts.

Working the material

• Wash the parts to remove mold release agent and cut off the casting blocks.
• Sand the mating surfaces for a clean joint; wear respiratory protection while sanding resin.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and bring out the internal structure of the flaps.
