The set holds American national insignia (the star in a circle with bars) for a model of the P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale. They are waterslide decals in the exact size and colors for that aircraft type. Crisply printed insignia in faithful shades are an ideal replacement for worn or inaccurate markings from the base set and also suit variants of more than one machine.
At the close of the Second World War the P-51D Mustang carried American national insignia in the form of a white star in a blue circle with white bars at the sides edged in blue. The exact placement and size of the insignia are crucial for a faithful model and differ with the particular service and period.
Clear coat the base in gloss to prevent silvering. Soak the decal, move it into place and press the surplus water out. With a softener the decal settles onto curved surfaces and into panel lines too. Finally unify the surface with a flat or semi-gloss clear coat.
This is a decal set on its own. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
