The Panzer IV/70 tank destroyer with the designation Sd.Kfz. 162/1 in 1:72 scale is a plastic kit from the manufacturer UM.
Responsibility details are not available.
A plastic kit of a German tank destroyer of the Second World War built on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank. The vehicle has a low casemate superstructure with no rotating turret and a long barrel projecting far ahead of the outline of the hull. The 1:72 scale keeps the model at a compact size and suits a collection and a smaller diorama alike.
The Panzer IV/70 is a late development branch of the tank destroyers derived from the Panzer IV chassis. Compared with the earlier versions it was given a longer gun of 7.5 cm caliber designated the Pak 42, with a barrel length of 70 calibers, which is precisely the figure in the designation of the type. Vehicles of this line carried the wartime designation Sd.Kfz. 162/1. The longer and heavier barrel noticeably loaded the front of the vehicle, which is apparent on the model in the massive overhang of the barrel.
The long barrel is the most sensitive part - glue it exactly on the axis, sand the parting line and fit it only at the end. Finish and paint the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull up. The surfaces of the casemate superstructure are large and smooth, so every unevenness shows on them - a filler primer and fine sanding pay off. Spray the camouflage in thin coats, and in this scale resolve it rather with a softer transition; a heavy wash would pull the fine detail down.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
