Photo-etched airfield matting in 1:72 scale from Green Stuff World. The pierced steel panels from which field surfaces were built during the war.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etched material imitating the pierced steel panels from which field airfield surfaces, roads and hardened parking aprons were built during the Second World War and after it. The panels locked into one another and could be laid within a few days straight onto unprepared ground. In 1:72 scale photo-etch is the only way to get genuinely thin metal with regular perforation onto a surface.
The matting is used as the base of dioramas with aircraft, as a hardened parking apron, as a field road for vehicles and as a retaining wall or an improvised platform. It works just as well as a stand-alone base under a finished model, placing it in a setting without your having to build a whole scene.
Separate the photo-etch with a sharp knife on a hard surface. Glue the sheet onto a flat board with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy and press it down with a weight, so that it does not stand proud anywhere. Degrease the metal surface and apply a primer, otherwise the finish rubs off. Let grass grow through the perforation and add mud, because new and clean matting looks unnatural in a diorama.
This is a material for creating a landscape. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
