An acrylic plate 3 mm thick and 280 x 180 mm in size with a printed pattern drawn for 1:72 scale. The motif is a surface of pierced steel matting, known by the abbreviation PSP, in the K-1-D type 2 version. The weight of the plate is 170 g.
PSP is the abbreviation for pierced steel planking, which was laid on the ground to create a firm surface where there was no concrete. The panels locked into one another and could be laid quickly, so runways, taxiways and dispersal areas of field airfields were built from them. The resulting surface has the typical regular drawing of lengthwise holes that a modeler recognizes at once. The same surface is reproduced by photo-etched sets and by other bases as well.
For modelers who build aircraft and helicopters in 1:72 deployed from improvised surfaces, and for creators of smaller scenes where the surface is meant to tell the story of the place. It helps with photography too, where the regular drawing of the matting holds the composition together.
The model, the paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
