A complete resin kit of the Polish PZL P.1 fighter prototype, in the form of both the first and the second prototype. The Hungarian maker SBS Model devotes itself to exactly such historically important but commercially neglected machines; the finely cast resin kit is intended for experienced modelers.
The PZL P.1 first flew in 1929 and entered history as the aircraft on which the high gull wing of the so-called Polish type was born - a cranked high wing that gave the pilot an excellent view forward and upward. The all-metal fighter prototype was powered by a liquid-cooled Hispano-Suiza V12 engine. Two prototypes were built, differing in detail; the type never reached production, because the Polish Air Force preferred versions with a radial engine. The gull wing layout, however, lived on in the famous series of PZL P.7 and P.11 fighters.
Wash the resin parts to remove the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand with respiratory protection; glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The characteristic cranked wing deserves careful alignment and a check of the geometry against a drawing. The prototype machines flew in simple schemes, so the cleanness of the build shows - metal surfaces are helped by a light gloss coat and a discreet panel wash.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, cast in resin. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
