This plastic kit in 1:72 scale from the Polish maker IBG Models captures the twin-engine PZL.37 Los medium bomber in the later production form of the B version. The package holds sprues with the parts, clear parts for the glazing, photo-etched parts and decals with a painting guide. The model is busier than single-engine kits in the same scale, but it stays within the reach of a modeler with basic experience of building aircraft.
In the second half of the 1930s the PZL.37 Los was among the most modern bombers in the world. It was an all-metal low-wing monoplane with retractable landing gear and, for its weight, a very slender structure, which gave it a bomb load comparable to markedly larger aircraft. The early form had a single vertical tail surface, while the versions designated B received twin surfaces. The aircraft were used in the September fighting of 1939, and some of them then withdrew to Romania, where the Romanian Air Force took them over and went on using them.
Twin-engine models live and die by the alignment of the wing and the engine nacelles, so always check the dihedral and the angles dry before the cement sets. Paint and accent the interior of the cockpit and the bomb bay before you close the fuselage. Mask the glazing with tape, and with the twin vertical tail surfaces watch that both stand alike. Polish aircraft wore a dark olive upper finish and a light blue-gray underside. Accent the engraved lines with a thin wash and keep the weathering restrained, because the aircraft served only briefly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
