1:72 Russian Infantry of WWI 1914-1918

Russian Infantry 1914-1918 (1:72, Zvezda)

A numerous set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Zvezda. It represents the infantry of the Russian Tsarist army of the First World War period. This is a classic large figure set with dozens of figures in several poses on plastic sprues; it holds roughly 40 figures. The figures are unpainted and meant to be assembled and painted.

The real subject

Russian infantry in the First World War was armed with the Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle and bayonet, and with light and heavy machine guns. The soldiers wore a characteristic field cap, or a helmet, and a long greatcoat. The set offers figures in marching as well as combat poses, suited to dioramas of the Eastern Front of the Great War.

Building and painting tips

Separate the figures from the sprue and clean up the mold seams. For the hard plastic use a model cement for polystyrene. We recommend a primer underneath, khaki to olive tones for the main colors and a final shading with a wash. A dry brush will bring out the detail of the uniforms and the gear.
