An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet SAM-6 self-propelled anti-aircraft missile system (Soviet designation 2K12 Kub, SA-6 Gainful in the West) in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures the launch vehicle on a tracked chassis with a rotating arm carrying three anti-aircraft missiles. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; follow the instructions enclosed for the exact contents of the package and the markings.
The Kub was a mobile anti-aircraft missile system meant to destroy air targets at low and medium altitude. The launch vehicle carried three missiles on a single tracked chassis, which made it mobile and able to accompany advancing units. The system entered service at the end of the nineteen sixties and became famous above all in the fighting in the Middle East in 1973, where it was a serious threat to the combat aircraft of the day. A complete battery also used separate guidance radars on further vehicles.
Finish the running gear and the chassis first, before you close the hull up; the tracks and the wheels are hard to reach later. Paint the missiles and the launcher arm separately and fit them only after the base coat. Lay the base down over a primer, ideally with an airbrush in thinned coats. Build the weathering up with washes into the corners and pigments for dust and mud effects on the lower hull and the tracks; fine drybrushing brings out the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
