A set of painting masks in 1:72 scale for the Polish RWD-13, prepared for the kit by RS Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The small RWD-13 high-wing monoplane came out of a Polish design workshop whose initials it carries in its designation, and in the 1930s it was among the best known machines of its kind. It served for touring flights, for liaison and as an air ambulance, and it found buyers beyond the Polish borders as well. It was built in several forms differing in equipment and in engine, which on a model shows mainly in the details of the nose. Its glazed cabin is characteristic, taking up an unusually large part of the fuselage and making it the most demanding place of the whole build.
That is exactly why pre-cut masks are worth reaching for. They are die-cut from thin self-adhesive film, follow the shape of every frame and hold on the glazing with no extra adhesive. They do away with cutting strips from masking tape, which in 1:72 never comes out the same on both sides of the cabin. The set is prepared specifically for the RWD-13 kit by RS Models, so the size of the individual pieces matches the shape of their molding.
Peel the pieces off the backing with the tip of a scalpel or with tweezers and lay them on clean, degreased glazing. Press each piece down with a wooden toothpick all the way around, so that no paint gets under the edge. Spray in several thin coats and take the masks off while the finish is only dry to the touch, not fully cured; then they come away with no risk of lifting the paint with them. The kit has to be bought separately.
