A resin add-on wheel set for building a model of the Swedish Saab J-35 Draken fighter in 1:72 scale. It replaces the kit wheels with parts of a more accurate shape and a finer tread, and without the mold parting line that usually has to be sanded away laboriously on plastic wheels. The Type 3 designation distinguishes a rendering within the maker's range; its meaning is described by the manufacturer on the package of the set. The number of parts in the package is given on the package.
The J-35 Draken was a Swedish single-seat supersonic fighter with a distinctive double-delta wing. It was precisely that wing planform that gave it a large internal volume and favorable flying qualities across a wide range of speeds. It served with the Swedish Air Force from the 1960s, and later other European countries operated it as well. The landing gear is of the tricycle type, retractable, with fairly slender wheels - so their shape and stance on a model give a simplification away easily.
With the Draken it pays to spend time on a dry fit. Before you glue anything, stand the model on a surface with the wheels dry-fitted and check whether it stands straight, whether both main wheels sit on the same contact patch and whether the splay of the legs is symmetrical. Resin does not deform the way plastic does, so an error is hard to correct later. Before painting, wash the parts in warm water with detergent and apply a primer. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the face with abrasive paper on a flat surface. It is bonded with super glue; the gel version gives time to fine-tune the position.
This is an accessory, not a complete kit. It is supplied unpainted; paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
