The real subject

The Douglas SBD Dauntless was an American carrier-based dive bomber of the Second World War. Given their use over the sea, the aircraft carried emergency equipment including an inflatable life raft stowed in a container in the structure of the airframe.

Building and painting tips

Wash the mold release residue off the part, carefully separate the casting block and bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The detail comes alive once it is lightly shaded.
