A plastic kit model of the American destroyer USS Fletcher (DD-445) in 1:700 scale from Tamiya, from the Waterline range. The model is built as a waterline version, that is with the hull above the waterline, and captures the armament and the superstructure of the lead ship of the whole extensive class.
USS Fletcher was the lead ship of the Fletcher class of destroyers, the most numerous class of American destroyers of the Second World War. The ships stood out for their versatility – a combination of five-inch dual-purpose guns, torpedoes and anti-aircraft armament – and served through a string of actions in the Pacific, from escorting carrier task forces to night engagements off Guadalcanal.
Seat the hull on a flat base so that the waterline sits true. Glue the fine parts – the guns, the torpedo tubes and the masts – with liquid cement for plastic. Naval grays in Measure camouflage schemes suit American ships of the Pacific; bring the panel lines and the decks to life with a fine wash, and railings can be added with aftermarket photo-etch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
