Military Wheels 1:72 SG-122 is a plastic kit of the Soviet SG-122 self-propelled gun with a 122 mm howitzer on a captured tracked chassis.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Military Wheels covers the Soviet SG-122 self-propelled gun. It was an improvised solution in which a 122 mm howitzer was built into an enclosed superstructure set on a captured German tracked chassis. The model thus joins Soviet armament with a taken-over base.
The SG-122 appeared in 1942 as an attempt to put a 122 mm field howitzer quickly onto the tracked chassis available from captured vehicles. Only a limited number were built, and the type served mainly as a transitional and trial solution on the way to the later series self-propelled guns. The enclosed superstructure gave the crew protection while providing fire support to the infantry.
In the small 1:72 scale, pay attention to clean assembly of the superstructure and the running gear. Paint the running gear and the underside before closing the hull. For the weathering use washes in the recesses and dust pigments on the tracks and the fenders. Glue with thin cement for plastic and separate the small parts with a sharp knife.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
