A clear cockpit canopy made by vacuum forming, intended as a replacement or an improvement for the clear parts of models of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:72 scale. It is not an aircraft kit, but a detail accessory. Vacuum-formed plastic is very thin and crystal clear, so the canopy looks more realistic in scale than heavier injection-molded parts and can easily be displayed in the open position.
A thin-walled canopy improves the view into the cockpit and lets you show off the details of the interior. Because it is clear and delicate, it is especially suited to builds where you want to open the canopy and show the seat, the instrument panel and the belts.
The part is cut from the carrier film with a small margin, the edges are carefully sanded to the line, and the canopy is bonded with a clear glue suitable for clear parts (PVA canopy glue, for example), which does not fog the plastic. The frames are masked and sprayed separately. Recommended for modelers with experience of thin vacuum-formed plastic, since it calls for precise cutting.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. The paints, the glue and the kit are not included in the package.
