A photo-etched set of parts in 1:72 scale for a model of the British Spitfire Mk.II fighter, carried for the IBG kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire Mk.II was the version which replaced the first production rendition in manufacture. The airframe kept its unmistakable outline with the thin wing of elliptical plan, and the main change was a more powerful powerplant. The differences against the Mk.I are small and concern details, which matters to a modeler: it is precisely by them that it can be told which version you have on the base.
Photo-etched metal can do what injection-molded plastic cannot: thin and flat elements can have a thickness matching the subject. At 1:72 scale that shows most on the edges and on areas which in reality are meant to be perforated or very thin. The set is carried for the IBG kit of the same scale in the Mk.II version, and its composition and the placing of the parts are described in the enclosed instructions. It pays to look into them before you start gluing the first plastic parts.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard mat and hold them while you do, so they do not spring away. Make the bends in a bending tool or over a metal edge and check them against the light. Meter the super glue with a pin, as any excess floods the relief and leaves a matte film; on larger parts epoxy is useful, as it still allows a shift. Degrease and prime the metal, and only then paint. Fit the inner elements before you close the fuselage, as there will be no access to them later.
The photo-etched parts alone are supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
