The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decals are given on the box and in the instructions. The B-wing is a fictional machine from the film world of Star Wars, in which it first appeared in the episode Return of the Jedi. Among the other fighters it stands out for its asymmetrical shape. The basis is a long lifting wing, at the end of which sits a nacelle with the cockpit, and a transverse arm with further surfaces. The cockpit is mounted in a gimbal so that the pilot keeps a constant attitude while the rest of the machine rotates around him. In the story it is a heavily armed strike machine intended against large targets, which matches its sturdy appearance. For a modeler it is interesting above all in that its shape is unlike anything else in a display case.
Because of the long wing the model is tall and narrow, so a great deal depends on the stability of the base and on the joint between the wing and the nacelle sitting square. Keep testing dry as you go, therefore, and glue on a flat surface. If the kit calls for glue, use thin cement for plastic applied with a small brush; it soaks into the seam by capillary action and leaves no fingerprints. In color it is a rewarding object. The base is light gray to gray-green, the film original is worn, so varying the color of the individual panels suits it, together with a dark wash into the engraved lines and light chipping applied with a sponge or a fine brush on the edges. Finish and glaze the cockpit with the pilot at the end, mask the glazing and protect it from overspray. Apply the decals onto gloss varnish and seal the whole model with a matte coat, so that the science fiction machine keeps a technical look.
