The Eduard TFace masking set for the Douglas TBD-1 Devastator carrier torpedo bomber in 1:48 scale takes care of the glazing from the outside and from the inside.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Devastator has a long glazed canopy running over several seats, and that is exactly the situation in which double-sided masking pays off. The TFace version is cut so that the frames of the 1:48 model can be outlined from the outside and from the inside, so that no bare plastic is left anywhere once the canopy is closed.
The Douglas TBD Devastator was a carrier torpedo bomber of the US Navy. In its day it was an advanced all-metal low-wing monoplane with folding wings and retractable landing gear, a big step from the biplanes it replaced. By the beginning of the war in the Pacific, however, it was already falling behind in speed and ceiling, and its use at Midway ended in heavy losses for the torpedo squadrons. The model therefore appeals through a type with a marked role in the history of naval aviation.
A long canopy tends to deform on models, so do not wrap it tightly with tape. Paint the frames from the inside before you glue the part in, ideally segment by segment. On naval aircraft it pays to spray the underside in the light shade before the upper surfaces, because the transition is then easier to handle with a fine mist. It is a good idea to polish the glazing before masking.
