This kit from the Ukrainian maker UM represents the Soviet SU-85 tank destroyer in 1:72 scale. It is an injection-molded plastic model with photo-etched parts added; it is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The SU-85 was created on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank as an answer to the new German tanks. In an enclosed superstructure it carried an 85 mm gun derived from an anti-aircraft gun, which markedly improved its ability to destroy armored targets at longer range. The vehicle was fielded from 1943 and the more powerful SU-100 later replaced it in production.
Assemble and clean up the running gear before you close the hull and the superstructure. Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement and the fine photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. Bring the base coat to life with a dark wash in the recesses and dust and mud pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
