This 1:72 plastic kit depicts the Japanese Tachikawa KKY-2 biplane of the 1930s. It is an injection-molded short-run model from the Ukrainian maker Amodel, complete with clear parts and a decal sheet. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Tachikawa KKY was a Japanese light biplane of the interwar era used among other things as an air ambulance and a liaison aircraft. With its classic strut-braced structure, fixed landing gear and open stations, the machine stands for early Japanese aviation, which appears only rarely among model subjects. The KKY-2 version is one of the less well-known and all the more interesting subjects for a collector.
With biplanes, pay attention to seating the upper wing and the struts exactly; it helps to prepare a simple jig in advance to hold the angles. Clean up the short-run parts and check how they sit. Bond them with thin plastic cement and add the bracing wires between the wings only after painting. Use a primer and an airbrush for painting, and lay the decals onto a gloss coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
