This is an injection-molded plastic kit of the American Convair F-106B Delta Dart interceptor in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The letter B denotes the two-seat version with the seats in tandem, which kept full combat capability. The model has finely engraved panel lines, clear parts for the canopy and a decal sheet with several marking options.
The F-106 Delta Dart was the principal all-weather interceptor of the US Air Force from the 1960s to the 1980s and is often called the Ultimate Interceptor. The characteristic tailless delta wing, a powerful engine and a guided missile in the internal weapons bay made it a fast machine meant to intercept bombers. The two-seat F-106B served both for pilot conversion and for combat tasks.
Use thin liquid cement on the plastic joints. Sand the seams on the fuselage and the leading edges carefully. Fit out the two-seat cockpit before closing it up and mask the glazing. A primer and an airbrush are recommended; the typical ADC Gray scheme comes into its own on a smoothly finished surface. Apply the decals over a gloss coat so that no silvering appears.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
