The set brings figures of an American tank crew together with a civilian figure. That combination is exactly its point: soldiers at a machine and a person who does not belong to the army create a relationship in a scene that vehicles alone will never make. The Czech brand Black Dog model builds its figure sets on precisely such situations.
A column halting in a village suggests itself, asking the way, exchanging information with a local inhabitant, or the simple moment when someone looks a machine over at close quarters. In 1:72 scale the figures are small, so the stance and the way they are turned decide: two figures facing each other tell more than five set out in a row.
A uniform and civilian clothes need a different approach. Military colors keep to a narrow range, whereas a civilian piece of clothing will carry a richer and darker shade that sets the figure apart at first glance. In 1:72 it does not pay to paint small details; what decides is a readable silhouette, a clear outline and muted shading. Two tones are enough for the faces, otherwise the expression goes hard. Finally, tie the whole group together with light soiling in one tone so the figures look like people from the same place.
